Meltdown Bug Out Bag Needs Rechargeable Batteries

Do you have AA rechargeable batteries and a battery charger? These are some of the things you might need some day for a quick exit to the hills in the case of an epidemic or pandemic.
The idea that there could be a situation grim enough that the economy or our health care system could meltdown is gaining steam.
It used to be only survivalists who were on the cutting edge of preparedness.
Nowadays, more and more people are catching on to the idea that they have to think ahead and be ready for anything if shale hits the fan.
Here are a few thoughts of things you might need for an overnight bag.
Keep in mind that you could well be gone for longer than overnight.
First and foremost, water.
It is essential to all life.
Be sure you have enough for the whole family.
Next, meals and snacks that will keep in case you are unable to shop prior to departure.
Keep an eye on the expiration dates for these, and have a routine for verifying that the food is not close to expiration.
When it does get close, just put it out for the kids and it'll get scarfed up in no time.
Then buy some more for your getaway baggage.
Another thing it's wise to have are a good pair of versatile cargo pants.
They need not be fancy.
The kind with extra pockets work well.
A knife is an essential.
Pack this in your bag if you don't routinely carry one in your vehicles.
Flashlight, headlamp, electrical games for the kids.
Having a few electronic entertainment items will make the trip more enjoyable.
Remember, your kids are used to being constantly connected these days, and could experience genuine unhappiness if all entertainment and such goes down.
Monetary and barter items are another essential.
Gold and silver coins, disposable diapers, and blankets could all be traded if worse comes to worse.
Most people may be caught off guard, and would need items that you could have on hand.
Clearly, this might be a bit more than could go in an overnight bag, but do your best to have things all packed up and ready to go.
Also have a plan in store if you need to pick up family members in various locations.
Everyone should know the planned routine, and practice repeating it to you for practice.
