- 1). Launch the Microsoft PowerPoint program. Click the "File" menu and select "New."
- 2). Click "Blank Presentation" under the "New" options menu on the right side of the program window.
- 3). Click the "View" menu and choose "Master > Slide Master" to display the Slide Master toolbar. Click the "Insert New Title Master" button. This create the "Slide Master" and "Title Master" slides that, when edited, change the way any other existing slides look.
- 4). Click the "Slide Master" or "Title Master" slide and edit each slide to change the backgrounds, font face, font size, and general layout. To change the fonts, click and drag to select a group of words and use the drop-down menus to change the style, face and color. To change the background, right-click anywhere on the slide and choose "Backgrounds," then select background fill or graphic options.
- 5). Click the "Close Master View" button. Click the "Insert" menu to add new slides to the PowerPoint template. Click the "Content Layout" buttons on the right side of the program window to add content areas to the new slides.
- 6). Click the "File" menu and choose "Save As" when you are finished editing the template. Type in a name for your template and choose "Design Template (*.pot)" from the "Save as type" drop-down menu. Click the "Save" button to save the template.
- 7). Click the "File" menu and select "New." Click "From AutoContent Wizard" on the right side of the program window.
- 8). Click "Next" in the AutoContent Wizard window. Click the "Add" button. Click the PowerPoint template file that you created in the steps above to select it, then click "OK."
- 9). Click the "All" button, then click the name of the PowerPoint template you added to the list in the previous step.

Click the "Finish" button to add your PowerPoint template to the AutoContent Wizard list. This template may now be used to create PowerPoint presentations with the Auto-Content Wizard.
