Several of these schools were founded as early as the 19th century. - Agnes Scott College is a private, all-female liberal arts college that was founded in 1889. The school is located in Decatur, Georgia, near Atlanta,. As of 2009, the school had about 900 undergraduates. The college offers undergraduate majors, minors and preprofessional programs in more than 50 different areas. The college also offers Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) degrees in five fields, as well as a postbaccalaureate premedicine program.
