How to Run Older PC Games on Windows 2000 Pro

    • 1). Log on to Windows 2000 as an administrator.

    • 2). Click the "My Computer" icon on your desktop, and take note of the letter of your primary hard drive.

    • 3). Click the "Start" button, and select the "Run" option on the start menu.

    • 4). Enter regsvr32 X:\apppatch\slayerui.dll in the "open" box. Sub the "X" with the letter of your hard drive from step 2.

    • 5). Find a shortcut to your game after you have entered the command.

    • 6). Right-click the shortcut and select "Properties."

    • 7). Select the "Compatibility" tab in the Properties menu and select the "Run in Compatibility Mode" box.

    • 8). Select either the Windows 95 or Windows NT 4.0 option, depending on which operating system your game is compatible with. Click "OK" to save the changes.

    • 9). Double-click your game's shortcut to begin playing.
