When designing your new bathroom it is important to make sure that you consider WHO will be using the bathroom.
Will young children be using it? If the answer is yes than there are a few things you might like to think about: 1.
Is the bathroom safe? There are some things you can do to ensure your bathroom is safe for the little ones in your household.
You might like to consider fitting door handles a little higher than normal, to keep young children from entering the toilet of bathroom without the supervision of an adult.
Also think about how you would get into the bathroom if your kids accidentally lock themselves in it.
How slippery is your bathroom? Make sure flooring is slip free.
Use non-slip matting in the bathtub and shower base to ensure no little accidental slips and falls.
Also consider small steps to enable your toddler to reach the basin or toilet.
2.
Are there items in your bathroom you would rather not have touched or played with by little children? Bathrooms that are decorated using precious antiques and lots of breakable accessories are probably not conducive in the family bathroom.
Young children may find some of your most delicate accessories just too tempting.
They pick them up (and drop them!), play with them, break them and even attempt to eat them.
Save these items and decor perhaps, for your private en suite or when your children have grown up! 3.
Bathrooms can be fun for kids.
There is many a child who does not like bath time! You may like to think about filling your bathroom with lots of fun and bright decor that might just entice your little one to have their bath.
You could decorate your bathroom using accessories taylored to your child/children.
Choose towels and other linen that perhaps, has their favourite toy or cartoon character on it.
You can also buy other accessories such as soap dishes, toothbrush stands and fancy plugs that use a similar theme.
I wouldn't advise spending hundreds of dollars though, as children quickly grow up and move from fad to fad all too soon.
4.
Include kids in the process.
Finally, what better way to make the bathroom appealing to the kids than to include them in the design stage.
Ask them for ideas and have them help out where it is practical.
