- 1). Locate the electrical outlet in your house or garage that is closest to where the car is parked. Plug in one end of the extension cord into this outlet.
- 2). Check to make sure the dryer is shut off. Attach the other end of the extension cord onto the hair dryer.
- 3). Lift the hood of your car and keep it up with the hood prop. Point the dryer directly at the carburetor. Make sure you're at least 6 inches away from it, but no farther than 12 inches.
- 4). Turn the dryer on low and allow the hot air to penetrate the carburetor. Move the dryer around so that the heat reaches all areas of this part. Gradually increase the heat to medium.
- 5). Increase the heat to high in cases of extreme cold. Stop the process after six or eight minutes. The car should start without difficulty.
