- 1). Seed your lawn with a resistant endophyte-enhanced grass. Check the grass seed label for this special variety.
- 2). Apply de-icing salt sparingly around lawn areas. Use substitutes such as sand or cat litter. Reseed the lawn if areas appear thin from exposure to deicing salt.
- 3). Fence off a separate area off and replace the grass with rocks if you have dogs. Allow them to use only this area instead of your lawn for urinating.
- 4). Place a supplement that changes the nitrogen concentration in your dog's urine in the dog's water or food.
- 5). Water lawn areas well after your dog urinates to dilute the nitrogen, using a hose or sprinklers. Diluting the nitrogen turns it into a beneficial fertilizer and keeps your grass green.
