The Western European nation of France is home to the Alps mountain range in the eastern part of the country, and the Pyrenees to the south. Lodging is usually located on resort property or within close proximity to the resorts. - Luz Ardiden is nestled in the heart of the French Pyrenees in the southern part of the country, approximately 45 minutes from the town of St. Sauveur. This ski resort features 26 trails for snowboarding and alpine skiing, as well as 15 lifts. The resort also has a park that snowboarders can use for halfpipe, spine and rail tricks. Indoor recreational facilities that are available during the winter include a climbing wall and pool. Trails for cross-country skiing and snowshoeing are also available. The ski season at this resort runs from December to April. Two on-site restaurants on the resort serve breakfast and lunch daily during the season. Hotel and cabin accommodations can be found in the nearby town of St. Sauveur.
