      Istanbul is Turkey's largest city; in fact, it is one of the largest cities in the world, with a population of nearly 13 million people. Istanbul is recognized as a major cultural center in Eastern Europe and as Turkey's epicenter for nightlife. Clubbers will have a variety of night clubs to choose from, ranging from large-scale entertainment complexes to laid-back reggae lounges to alternative music and performance venues.

    Reina

    • Reina is an entertainment complex of dancing, bars and restaurants located along the shores of the Bosphorus Strait. With a 2,500-person capacity, the complex is filled with Istanbul's elite clubbers and tourists from all over the world. The club is open all year round; during the summer time, patrons get down on the outdoor dance floors, which overlook the Bosphorus bridge. Restaurants change frequently and range from Italian to kebab shops to sushi locales.

    Babylon

    • Babylon is a multi-purpose night club and performance center, featuring various styles of live music as well as theater acts and art shows. The club is a popular location for alternative acts from all over Turkey to showcase their talent. Music genres include reggae, alternative, rock, indie pop, jazz as well as classical and contemporary Turkish styles. The venue has a 450-person capacity, seating 300. In 2007, Babylon opened an adjacent lounge, featuring a bar and restaurant with breakfast, lunch, dinner and late night snack menus.

    Riddim Cafe and Bar

    • Riddim Cafe and Bar is a reggae/world beat bar and dance club in Istanbul's Beyoglu neighborhood, soon to be serving Caribbean cuisine as well (info as of Sept. 2010). The tropical vibe of the club is accentuated by ambient lighting, a bamboo hut DJ booth, Caribbean artwork as well as reggae posters. Due to its popularity among tourists, the bar has English-speaking staff. The bar is open nightly until 2 a.m.

    Switch

    • Switch is a rave-style dance club, situated in a dark, spacious vault complex enhanced by laser lights and other psychedelic effects. DJs spin trance music and other forms of electronica into the early hours of the morning. Trance styles range from deep trance to happy, uplifting styles, depending on the night. Switch attracts top Istanbul DJs as well as guest DJs from all over Eastern and Western Europe. The venue is popular with Istanbul's LGBT community.
