Sinus problems - four All-Natural Approaches to Alleviate Your Blocked Up Sinuses

There are certain people who suffer from sinusitis throughout their whole lives. Most of us get a stuffed nose from catching a cold or flu however, it usually clears up shortly afterwards.

A persistent and long term sinusitis problem could be a sign that the condition is either related to an allergy or a genetic disposition like asthma which, can run in families. If a persistent sinus problem is allergy related there is a high chance that the condition maybe directly or indirectly related to the diet a person eats.

Adults with a sinus problem since childhood were usually very pale and not robust physically. This can be quite common with a poor diet because at an early age children quickly form the habit of a sweet tooth resulting in a diet high in sugar. Also, a large proportion of the western diet especially, with children is the high consumption of dairy products such as milk, yogurt, cheese and the childrens favorite, ice cream. When we are young we tend to eat these foods consistently and in large quantities and this habit tends to continue into adult life.
The reason why children enjoy eating these foods is because their taste buds are not fully developed and the bland taste of most dairy products makes it easier for them to consume it. However, eating too much diary produce can lead to digestive problems and an increased risk of certain types of allergies.

To stay fit and healthy the body needs to have a healthy digestive system to breakdown food and convert it into energy. However, a diet rich in milk, bread and cheese can increase the levels of acid in the gut. The gut needs acid to breakdown food however, an over acidic digestive system creates the perfect environment for viruses and bacteria to thrive and therefore, increasing the risk of infection.

The common cold and the flu are a common result of these infections, and research has found that cow proteins found in many diary products can prevent the lymphatic system from working properly. The lymphatic system ensures that the toxins the body can not deal with are expelled from the body such as mucus from the nose.

To help you with your sinusitis, try these suggestions:

1. Eliminate or at the very least cut down diary products from your diet particularly, milk cheese and butter.

2. Remove or reduce foods from your diet that put stress on your digestive system such as wheat, yeast and starchy sugary foods.

3. Eat plenty of organic fresh vegetables especially, garlic and onions as they have a cleansing effect on the body and can relieve the pressure of   swollen sinuses.

4. Take elderberry extract as this is an natural remedy to relieve the symptoms of the cold and flu.

It is advisable to apply these gradually as any sudden changes to your diet may result in some adverse physical side effects such as dizziness and headaches. This is a sign that your body is changing and these side effects can be minimized by drinking plenty of water.
