Circulation Job Description

    Job Duties

    • The main duty is keeping the library's books, periodicals and audio/visual materials in order and properly categorized. Answering patron questions in person and via telephone is necessary. Collecting fees and fines is part of the job.

    Skill Requirements

    • The ability to read and interpret categorization codes is necessary. Interpersonal communication skills help interactions with all age groups. Record maintenance abilities and computer skills are required to keep track of monetary transactions and chronicle receipt of new materials.

    Preferred Background

    • A high school diploma or equivalent is required. Familiarity with library coding and tracking systems is a plus. Experience in document control is desirable.
