    Edinburgh

    • Edinburgh is the capital of Scotland and offers a number of interesting locations for travelers abroad. The city rests on hills and valleys and visitors can arrive there by air, road, sea and rail. Edinburgh castle is one of Scotland's most famous castles. The castle includes an exhibition called the "Honours of the Kingdom," tracing the history of the Crown Jewels of Scotland. Other notable sights for visitors are the Old Surgeon's Hall and Old Royal High School in the Old Town area just east of the castle. Every August, Edinburgh holds the Edinburgh Tattooone, a show lasting three weeks that draws an audience of 217,000 people.

    Glasgow

    • Glasgow is a cosmopolitan city in Scotland decorated in Victorian architecture. The city features a number of art museums and galleries, many with free admission. The Burrell Collection features over 9,000 works of art from all over the world. The Gallery of Modern Art is a contemporary art gallery opened in 1996 featuring work by international and local artists. The Glasgow Cathedral and Necropolis, Glasgow Science Centre, Hunterian Museum, The Lighthouse and the Martyr's School are other tourist destinations in Glasgow.

    Dundee

    • Dundee, Scotland is one of the main stations on the east coast sea line. The city features a regional airport and cruise port. Dundee houses two major universities with more than 34,000 students making the city the largest home of young people per head of any Scotland city. One major touring destination in Dundee is the Discovery Point, home of the RRS Discovery, polar exploration ship. The ship is one of the final three-masted wooden ships built in Britain for scientific research.

    Aberdeen

    • Aberdeen, Scotland is located between the Dee and Don rivers. The city of Aberdeen hosts a number of exhibitions and International festivals. The city also features a number of immense castles. The Castle Fraser is a Z-plan castle, with a strong tower in the center and two smaller towers at opposite diagonal corners. Further west is the Craigievar Castle, a pinkish castle that bears a striking resemblance to fairy tale castles. Within this castle is a large collection of portraits and furniture dating from the 17th and 18th century.
