- 1). Measure the cultured marble carefully with a yard stick and mark where to cut on the unfinished back of the piece with a pencil.
- 2). Protect the finished surface of your cultured marble piece. Cover either the finished surface of the cultured marble or the work bench where you lay the piece for cutting with soft cloth like a blanket or towels.
- 3). Turn the cultured marble piece with the finished surface face down. Cultured marble's hard surface can be difficult to cut through and can shift or slip during cutting. Secure the cultured marble tightly to the work bench with vice grips or clamps to avoid slippage while making a cut.
- 4). Use a rotary saw with a masonry blade to cut the cultured marble. Do not force the saw through the marble piece. Guide the saw along the pencil cut line. Slow down when you come near the end of the cut to ensure a clean cut and to avoid a ragged edge.
- 5). Use sandpaper to sand the rough edges of the cut. Use care not to sand any part of the finished surface to avoid damaging the finish. Consult the manufacturer's instructions for the proper grit of sandpaper to use on the cultured marble.
