- Clean the CD before trying to fix any scratches. Sometimes a simple cleaning will fix a skipping error. Wipe the CD with a clean, nonabrasive cloth from the center to the edge. Clean any sticky or greasy spots with mix of warm water and a small dab of baby shampoo. Dab a clean, nonabrasive cloth in the mixture and gently rub the CD's underside. Let the CD air-dry for half an hour. If you find a water mark after air-drying, simply wipe it away with a clean nonabrasive cloth after the discs are done drying.
- Peel a ripe banana and remove a slice you can comfortably hold in your hand. Apply a freshly cut banana piece to the underside of the CD in soft circular movements. Expect the plastic to get messy. Wipe the CD with the inside of the banana peel in gentle circle sto help polish the disc. The wax in the peel will help smush the banana into the CD's cracks and buff the CD at the same time. Wipe the CD again with a clean, soft cotton cloth with moderate pressure in the same circular motion. Wipe for at least 3 minutes. Apply glass cleaner to the CD and wipe it clean with another clean cotton cloth.
- Buy either a creamy toothpaste or creamy peanut butter. Gel toothpaste will not fill the cracks in the CD. Take a clean, nonabrasive cotton cloth and dip it into the toothpaste or peanut butter. Try to get around a teaspoon of either onto the cloth. Use the cloth to gently rub the paste onto the underside of the disc. Rinse the disc with lukewarm water and wipe off any excess paste with a clean cloth. Let the disc air dry until completely dry.
- For minor disc scratches, use furniture polish. Spray a scratched disc lightly with furniture polish. Using a clean, nonabrasive cloth and gently wipe off the furniture polish until dry.
