Safe Directions for Forwarding E-Mails

    • 1). Locate your antivirus program. Check in the task manager to see whether you have an antivirus program. This will be an icon next to the time in the bottom Windows toolbar. Click on the icon and select the update option. The program will access the web to look for new antivirus updates. Antivirus programs will protect incoming and outgoing email from carrying viruses. This will make your forwarded email messages safer to receive.

    • 2). Download and install a free antivirus program if you don't have an antivirus installed on your computer. Free antivirus options like AVG, Avira or Avast are free options available online. Install the new antivirus by clicking the icon in the file you installed it to. Allow the installation wizard to start and follow the easy to follow on-screen installation prompts requiring your name, address and other similar information. Click "Finish" when the installation completes. Allow the program to open automatically and click on "Scan" to scan the "C:" drive. Eliminate or quarantine any viruses that may appear.

    • 3). Go to your email server and open the message you want to forward. Click the "Forward" tab in the message toolbar. The message will blink and open a new message window. Type in any message you want to add.

    • 4). Change the subject field if you want and click "Send." At any time if the forwarded email is virus infected your antivirus will inform you of this.

    • 5). Update your antivirus every 2 to 3 weeks to keep your email Inbox and outgoing messages clear from viruses including those messages you want to forward.
