1794 - Battle of Fallen Timbers occurred. General Anthony Wayne defeated a force of Indians in Northwest Ohio, ending hostilities in the region.

1886 - Eight anarchists are sentenced because of the Haymarket Affair.

1940 - Radar was used for first time.

1956 - President Eisenhower was nominated for reelection.

1992 - George Herbert Walker Bush was nominated to run for President.
