Some of your family members have tried some form of Alternative Medicines with some success, and some failure, depending on the individual, results do vary.

Chiropractic Care - I have plantar fasiciitis for about 3 months now.
I went to a foot specialist and received a cortisone shot, two weeks later I returned for one more cortisone shot.
Neither shot really helped my foot.
Someone suggested that I go to my Chiropractor, the one that I had been seeing for wellness, to keep my back aligned.
That sounded like a good idea.
That is exactly what I did.
Made my appointment right away and now my foot is now about 70% better then when I started going back to him.
I have only been seeing him for 2 weeks now, but I do not have as much pain in the bottom of my foot.
I am still limping a bit, but nothing like when I first walked in to see him.
A chiropractor can be an alternative for pain and healing.
Acupuncture - Original the doctors in China used needles to ease the pain.
Now it is used in the USA to help ease pain, also acupuncture can be used to help stop smoking, and also in weight loss.
Aroma Therapy - Is the use of essential oils.
Many different types of oil are used in healing.
Herbalists - An herbalist is a trained professional that will use herbs to help in your wellness.
There are numerous types of herbs that an herbalist will use as herbal remedies.
Maybe the ones I have listed could be of use for you or Hypnotists or Homeopathy is for you.
Research what Alternative Medicine can do for you - to find out what is best for you.
