Questions Worth Posing Prior to a Tummy Tuck

If you are considering undergoing a tummy tuck procedure, the most important aspect is knowing what to expect.
During your initial consultation you will be provided with an opportunity to ask a series of questions to the performing surgeon.
This applies whether you've already selected your physician, or are in the process of interviewing.
Either way, having knowledge on your side is never a bad thing.
In this article, we will provide a list of questions worth asking your surgeon prior to making your final decision.
Questions: • How does my candidacy look in regard to having the surgery performed? • Based on what I've described, do you feel as though my expectations are realistic? • What type of facility with the treatment be performed at? • How long does the procedure usually take? • Do you believe, based on my circumstances, that there are any added risks of complications? • What are my options regarding the type of anesthesia that will be used? • How much experience do you have performing this type of procedure? What is your success rate? • What are your qualifications (certifications, education, record, etc.
)? Can you please show be evidence of these qualifications? • Do you have any before and after photos of recent patients which you have performed this procedure on? • Can you provide me with a percentage of patients who you have performed this procedure on that have resulted in significant complications post-surgery? Can you please explain the circumstances surrounding these complications? • Who will be in the operating room, assisting you? Can I please obtain a list of their qualifications? • What are the costs surrounding this procedure? Is financing available? If so, please outline the terms.
• If the results are deem unsatisfactory, will you offer to correct or repeat the procedure? If such instances arise, will I be charged for these additional services? • Can I view the surgery prior to making a decision? (this can be either live, or pre-taped) • What can I expect as far as recovery is concerned? At what point will I be afforded the ability to resume my normal routine? • What is your malpractice history? Have you ever had your coverage suspended, revoked, or denied? • May I please obtain a list of prior patients whom I would be able to contact for reference sake? Make certain your physician is able to answer any question you ask of them.
In addition, pay attention to the manner in which they answer your questions.
In cases where a physician refused to disclose information, take it as a sign and find someone who will.
