Someone said that teaching is the work of teachers.
So, anything that has to do with passing knowledge onto anyone is the sole responsibility of a teacher.
Well, I agree with this argument to some extent but the truth is that there are certain things you can learn in a school classroom.
One of such things you can learn in school is money management.
I have yet to see a school where teachers teach how to make, save and spend money.
So, it becomes the responsibility of parents to teach their kids how to make and save money for future use.
Why? This is because these teens are often with their parents and they practically see their parents make money, save it and spend it.
Therefore, since parents have the practical knowledge of money management they are the best candidates for teaching their children how to manage money.
Parents should call the attention of their kids when they are making family budget, and making a list of items to be bought so that they will know that the money that comes into the family is not for fun.
However, you don't have to turn your home to a financial training or business school by carrying cane with which you will thrash them if they don't learn how to handle money.
Remember, they are not adults yet but they have to know that there's a difference between what the family can afford to buy at the moment and what the family will buy next time if money comes in.
Teens should also be taught by their parents that any money that comes into one's hand is not for spending only rather some part should be saved for a rainy day.
Parents are responsible for teaching teens how to make and save money.
