The main living area is open plan, comprising kitchen, living and dining areas and has french doors opening onto a private veranda that overlooks the grounds and paddock of Woodmill Farm. This pet-friendly, self-catering cottage is just one mile from Eden and a short drive from the harbor town of Fowey on the south coast of Cornwall. Beech Cottage, Tregony

• This pet-friendly, one-bedroom cottage with a separate open-plan dining/kitchen/living area belongs to Vose Farm Holiday Cottages, a family-run, converted farm that now provides holiday accommodation. Located close to the village of Tregony, between St. Austell and Truro in Cornwall, the cottage is ideally placed for exploring local attractions, such as Caerhays Castle and Porthleven Beach, and is just eight miles from the Eden Project. Facilities at Beech Cottage include a large double bedroom and en-suite with power shower. French doors lead to a private garden with a barbecue area. Beech Cottage allows one well-behaved dog by prior arrangement; the pet owner must be responsible for any damage caused. Cutkive Wood Lodges

• Cutkive Wood is a 41-acre, family-owned country estate that is home to six pet-friendly, chalet-style rural cottages. It is ideal for those who wish for something different from the usual town or beach vacation settings. All the lodges are either two or three bedrooms adjoined to private gardens with picnic tables, patios and views across the Cornish countryside beside bluebell woods. A maximum of two dogs are allowed per lodge, and guests are asked not to allow them on the furniture and to bring their pets' food bowls and bedding. Dogs must be kept on leash at all times, including when walking in the woods. There is a nearby, recommended day kennel for guests who wish a day out without their dog.
