- 1). Close Windows Mail if you have it open. Click the Windows "Start" button and enter "C:\Users\loginname\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Calendar\Calendars\loginname" where "loginname" is your Windows account name. Press "Enter" to open the directory in an Explorer window.
- 2). Right-click the "Calendar.ics" file and select "Cut." In the same Explorer window, navigate to your public folder, right-click in the folder and select "Paste." This moves your default file to the new public folder location.
- 3). Click the Windows "Start" button. Type "cmd" into the text box and press "Enter." This opens the Windows command line.
- 4). Type the following command into your prompt:
mklink "C:\Users\inlognaam\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Calendar\Calendars\loginname's Calendar.ics" "D:\public_folderCalendar.ics"
The first parameter in the "mklink" command is the original location of the calendar file. The second parameter lists your public folder location. This creates a link in Windows Mail to the new location, so your software uses the new file folder. - 5). Open Windows Mail. All your calendar events and information is retrieved from the new location.
