- 1). Measure the area you’ll be tiling so you know how many tiles you’ll need. Then sketch out a design for how you’ll lay out the tiles.
- 2). Clean the area where you’ll be setting the tile and allow to dry. Then mix your mortar, following the instructions that come with the mortar.
- 3). Apply the mortar to the surface. Use the flat side of your trowel when applying the mortar, and keep the mortar layer thin, even and consistent. Apply the tiles as you work –cover an area with mortar, then apply the tiles. Use spacers between the tiles to keep spacing consistent.
- 4). Cut the tiles when necessary to place them in position. Using a wet saw is the best way to do this.
- 5). Let the tiles set overnight, then apply the grout. Mix your grout mixture according to directions and apply between the tiles. Wipe off excess as you go.
