- 1). Camp, boat, fish, hike, bike, ride horses, explore archaeological sites and bird watch in the Lynx Lake Recreation Area in Prescott National Forest. Eight designated wilderness areas comprise 1.25 million acres of this National Forest.
- 2). Learn about the natural and cultural history of the Prescott area in three local museums--Sharlot Hall Museum, Smoki Museum and Phippen Art Museum.
- 3). Explore Fort Whipple, the headquarters for the Military Department of Arizona in 1870, and the Arizona Territory’s capital before Prescott assumed that role.
- 4). Go antiquing in Prescott’s Downtown Historical District, where many buildings are listed in the National Registry of Historical Places. There are more than a dozen antique stores downtown--most within walking distance of one another--interspersed with plenty of quaint restaurants and shops.
- 5). Party on Whiskey Row, named for the plentiful number of saloons on the 100 block of South Montezuma Street. “Back in the day,” famous American cowboys and outlaws drank there, and you can drink there now in saloons like the Bird Cage Saloon, Hooligan’s and Jersey Lily.
