- 1). Measure the circumference of your drum shade and write the number down on a piece of paper.
- 2). Measure the height of your drum shade and write it down on a piece of paper.
- 3). Take the dimensions of your drum shade to your local fabric or craft store that sells fabric. Find the fabric you want to cover the drum shade with and take it to the counter. Let the store fabric cutter know the dimensions of the drum shade you are trying to cover. He can help you calculate the number of yards of fabric you need. Choose a fabric that is at least one to two inches wider than the height of your drum shade so you can cover the outside of the drum shade and fold it over the top and bottom and tuck it inside if the shade.
- 4). Lay the fabric out on a flat working surface back at your home or work location. Place the design on the fabric down on the surface so that the back of the fabric is facing up.
- 5). Place the drum shade in the center of the fabric.
- 6). Pull the fabric up so that it folds over the top rim of the lamp shade. The fold over should be about approximately one inch inside of the lamp shade.
- 7). Pick the lamp shade up holding the fabric in place with one or two of your fingers. Push the bottom of the fabric through the bottom of the drum shade so that approximately one inch of fabric is folded over on the inside of the bottom of the shade. Pull the fabric tight so that it lying right up against the outside of the drum shade.
- 8). Cut any excess fabric away from the fabric from the bottom of the shade.
- 9). Fold the fabric over the top of the drum shade and use hot glue to attach the fabric to the inside top rim of the shade.
