- 1). Power off the HP 5500 printer. Connect the wireless print adapter's USB cable to the open USB port on the back end of the HP 5500 printer.
- 2). Connect the wireless print adapter's AC adapter into a wall outlet. Press the HP 5500's power button. Insert the CD that came with the wireless adapter in your computer's disc drive.
- 3). Choose "Install" and proceed through the installation prompts that appear on your computer's screen until the software tells you to plug in the computer adapter. Connect the computer adapter that came with the wireless upgrade kit to one of your computer's available USB ports.
- 4). Select "Finish." Right-click the "Connection Manager" icon that appears in the tray at the lower-right end of the desktop. Choose "Connect" to connect to the HP 5500 printer.
- 1). Connect the HP 5500's USB cable to an open USB port on any of the computers connected to your wireless network. Insert the 5500's installation disc in the computer's disc drive and follow the installation instructions if you have not already done so.
- 2). Open the "Start" menu and choose "Network." Click the "Network and Sharing Center" icon near the top of the window.
- 3). Select the "Network Discovery" button and choose "Turn on Network Discovery." Click "Apply." Click the "Printer Sharing" option.
- 4). Click "Turn on Printer Sharing" and select "Apply." Close the window and access the main computer on your wireless network. Open the "Start" menu and click "Network."
- 5). Select the "Add a Printer" button at the top of the window. Click "Add a network, wireless or Bluetooth" printer. Select the "HP 5500" entry and choose "Next" and "Finish" to connect to the printer.
