How to Pack for a Skiing Trip

    • 1). Pack you ski gear first. The most essential stuff is your ski equipment so make a checklist and get it ready. Include your skis, poles, boots, bindings, gloves, a hat, ski suit, scarf, goggles, a plastic holder for the ski pass and heavy socks. This is a big list but you will need the items for every person going on the trip.

    • 2). Pack your normal travel supplies. Add these to your packing list: pajamas, one outfit per day of trip, underwear, socks, jacket, one nice outfit for night life if appropriate, walking shoes and dress shoes. If you like, you may want to add playing cards, games for the kids, your laptop, and anything else you would consider entertainment.

    • 3). Don't forget all the toiletries. Aren't these the things you usually leave at home and have to go and buy? These are deodorant, makeup, soap, shaving gear, toothbrush and toothpaste, mouthwash, shampoo, cream rinse and hair spray. If you have contacts, dentures, hearing aids or anything else requiring containers or batteries, make sure you pack these as well. If you have babies or small children, include their essentials here. Don't leave out your camera, with extra memory cards or film and cell phones and chargers.

    • 4). Bring along some first aid supplies: bandages, sun screen, antibiotic cream and whatever prescription and over the counter drugs you need. You don't need a lot of things here. Just a few items for your most common emergencies and minor ailments. If you're not going to be on the bunny slopes all week, you may want some safety items. Reflective patches and/or tape is great (especially for children) as is an air horn in case you get separated from everyone else. Whistles are cheap and are a good thing to hang around your children's necks, too.

    • 5). Bring your personal information on every trip you go on. This includes pertinent medical information on everyone going: blood types, conditions, medications, allergies, shot records for children (tetanus shots for everyone), and any information on serious problems that you have had in the past such as heart surgery, a gastric bypass, transplant or any other serious condition that medical personnel would need to know in order to treat you.

    • 6). Relax - now that you're all packed up and ready to go. There's nothing left for you to do...unless you count daydreaming.
