The Windows System Backup Can Be Better
Problems from IT technicians
Many IT technicians found that the majority problems of the client computers are really strange by the reason of the computer users who do not understand the operation system. They call for help though the IT department or IT contractors and they always said: "I do not know why!", "I did not make any change to the Windows, I do the same work everyday!" As an IT technical support, they must finding solutions from windows by themselves. And even the worst cases to have a Windows re-installation to ensure that the problems are solved. However the Windows re-installation will affect the user's normal work.
The Windows System Backup
The mostly problems are the users improper operate. For example an abnormal shutdown, by hard reset to restart the computer, unknowingly installed a lot of unnecessary software from the internet such as a lot of ActiveX components when they using the internet browser. As time goes by, may be an accident restart the Windows or updates of Windows and anti virus software can not be expected to occur so that the computer problem finally unable to work. The method of solution is Windows System Restore in fact, in Windows XP / Vista operating system, a system original function, can turn the clock back, so that Windows back to a point in time the symptoms status, but this feature required the user to run the backup from time to time. The IT technician always found that the backup points of the computers maybe two or three years ago. It is totally no useful at all. Since all the business computer users have their own job day by day. You can not ask them to make the backup point of the Windows system backup regularly, unless you do the backups to each of your system client user computers.
Set up VB Script
I found this section of VBScript, which can be execute in order to set up a new restore point, and no need to run from the start manual. The VB Script as follows:
Set IRP = getobject("winmgmts:.rootdefault:Systemrestore")
MYRP = IRP.createrestorepoint ("Auto Restore Point", 0, 100)
After running the above two lines of VB Script, Windows will automatically set up A point in time, called "Auto Restore Point". The VB Script running behind the Windows required only one or two Minutes will be set up a Backup Point. First of all, everyone can use Notepad or other text editing tools type the above two lines. Then save the file named as "CreateRP.VBS". Then use the mouse point to the VB Script file, right click and select dos command prompt to run the VB Script. once it can automatically set up a Restore Point.
Automatically restore points
Although the VB Script can help to create of restore points. But how can the client users run the script? You can add the script to the 'Start' group of programs. So that the VB Script will run at every time the windows start. Or just put the VB Script to the windows build-in scheduler and set the VB Script execute weekly or monthly to avoid too many backup points in the computers.
Conclusion
Although using the Windows System Backup in time can be help to playback the system when the problem happened. Please be sure to using anti-virus software to prevent attack of virus. Once a computer was infected with virus, all the network systems will be impacted. It can be totally to get a headache.
