How to Perform the ScanDisk Function in Windows XP

      Start > My Computer.

      Select "My Computer" either from the Start button or the icon on your desktop.

    • 2). Select the Hard Disk Drive on which you want to perform the ScanDisk function by right-clicking on it to highlight it. This will bring up another menu. You can do this multiple times to look over any of your hard drives. Most people have Disk C as the main drive and would probably start there.

      Properties of your hard drive.

      Scroll down to the bottom of this pop-up menu. Select "Properties."

      Check now.

      Click on the "Tools" tab. From there click the "Check Now" button under "This option will now check the volume for errors." This is the ScanDisk function in Windows XP.
