- Sansa offers a series of portable media players capable of playing a variety of files. Although not all Sansa devices can play videos or display photos, they are all capable of audio playback, as they are primarily music players. Not only can it play a variety of file types, a Sansa can store any type of file on its hard drive.
- Sansa devices can play MP3, secure and unsecured WMA, AA and WAV audio formats. Although Sansa is touted as a music player, other audio formats, such as audio books, podcasts and other audio files can be added. Most Sansa players allow you to create play lists on the device or transfer previously created play lists from your computer.
- Newer Sansa models, such as the Sansa Fuze, can display full motion video. Unlike other comparable media players, video-compatible Sansa players require you to convert all video using the Sansa Media Converter, a free program that is available for download and included with all Sansa media players.
- Select Sansa models, such as the Sansa Fuze and Sansa View, can display photos. Similar to videos, any photos added must be converted using the Sansa Media Converter before they can be displayed on the device. The Sansa Media Converter also allows you to crop, rotate and resize photos before transferring them.
Sansas can also be used in Mass Storage Content mode, which allows you to add any type of file to the device. In this mode, you can use the device much as you would a USB flash drive.
