- The blanket flower, also known as firewheel, Indian blanket or Gaillardia pulchella, is a salt- and drought-tolerant perennial. Plants can grow up to 2 feet tall and produce large red flowers with yellow tips from May through August. Blanket flowers prefer full sun and dry soil.
- The lantana, also called shrub verbena or Lantana camara, has a high salt tolerance. This evergreen shrub produces clusters of small flowers that can range from pink to orange, red or yellow, all within the same cluster. This drought-resistant plant prefers sun to partial shade and well-drained soil.
- The little bluestem, or Schizachyrium scoparium, tolerates high levels of salt. Little bluestem grows across much of the western U.S. and prefers sun to partial shade and dry soils. A North American native, this bunchgrass can grow up to 3 feet tall. Leaves are long, narrow and have a blue hue at the base.
