Patriotic Treat Can Craft

This fun coffee can craft makes a wonderful tabletop decoration if you fill it with flowers and flags, or it can even be filled with treats and given as a gift.
  • Age Guideline: 8 Years and Up
  • Time Required: 30 minutes + (Does not include drying time)

The above age and time guidelines are estimates. This project can be modified to suit other ages and may take more or less time depending on your circumstances.

Materials Needed:

Instructions:
First make sure the coffee can is clean, dry, and free of any sharp edges.

With the lid in place, cover the outside of the coffee can with white craft foam and a generous amount of glue. Cut six 1 1/2" thick strips from red craft foam, the height of the coffee can. Glue the red strips evenly spaced, vertically, around the coffee can so you end up with alternating red and white stripes.

Remove the lid from the coffee can. Paint the lid blue, set it aside to dry. You can also simply cover the coffee can lid with craft foam.

Next, cut a piece of cardboard into a circle about 2" wider all around than the coffee can. Cover one side of the cardboard with blue craft foam and glue it under the coffee can so it looks like a red, white, and blue top hat!

For a finishing touch, you can glue small white craft foam stars (or you can use stickers) on the blue hat brim and lid.

Let the glue dry completely and then use your patriotic hat as a nice decoration of as a gift.

I hope you enjoy making this patriotic craft. If you make this craft, make sure you send in a photo so it can be posted here. You can also get your own crafts published.
