A country western party is all the rage amongst your guests.
However, before you get down with that boot scootin' boogie, you'll have to get the guests into making their own rain sticks!These are fun, Native American themed crafts that introduce the kids to the other cultures of the western United States.
Rain Stick! For this country western party craft you'll need the following items; Paper towel tube or other long cardboard tube, Aluminum foil, Small dried beans, unpopped popcorn, dry rice, or tiny pasta, Brown grocery bag paper, Glue, Scissors, and Crayons or markers.
You'll begin your country western rainstick by tracing around the end of your paper tube onto a piece of brown paper.
Draw a slightly bigger circle around the circle you traced and then draw a lot of spokes connecting the two circles.
Cut out the larger outer circle and then snip the brown paper along the spokes.
You'll make two of these and then glue them onto the ends of your paper tubes.
However, for now, only glue one on.
Let dry.
Meanwhile, cut a piece of aluminum foil that is about one and half times the length of your tube and about 6 inches wide.
This will help create a unique sound for your country western rainstick.
Crunch the aluminum foil into two long, thin, snake-like shapes.
Twist each of the foil rolls one into a spring shape.
Place both of the aluminum foil springs into your tube.
Next, you'll pour some dry beans, dry rice, or unpopped popcorn into your tube.
Only place a good handful of the items into your country western craft item.
It only takes a little bit to create lots of sound.
Glue the other brown paper cap on the open end of your rainstick.
Let it dry.
Wrap your rainstick in brown paper and glue.
Let dry.
Now you can decorate your rainstick anyway you wish with the crayons and markers.
Whenever you hit a dry spell, your guests can take their country western rainsticks outside and shake them in order to call the rain!
