It is almost a computer that can be carried around the house with ease because it is about the size of a legal writing pad, hence the name. It is much different than a laptop though, because it is one flat touch LCD screen and is similar to a much larger version of the iPhone and iPod touch. It also uses the same Apple operating system as the iPhone. It does not have a CD drive, but that doesn't mean you won't be able to watch movies or listen to music, you will be able to download all of these from the apple iTunes store with your broadband wireless connection at home.

With the iPad you will be able to access your facebook and email accounts just with a simple tap on the screen. You will be able to download the facebook application for free from the iTunes store, and it will appear on the home screen of your iPad. Then you can setup your account information and it will log you in whenever you tap the icon on your screen. You will be able to keep track of your friends, look at pictures, and let your friends know what you are doing.

You will also be able to set-up your e-mail account so that your iPad will be able to access your inbox from your iPad. With the convenient touch screen keyboard, you will be able to communicate from your iPad just like you would from a laptop or desktop computer. You will be able to access any email account, such as your Gmail, Hotmail, or Yahoo account.

Of course you will be able to surf the internet using Apple's Safari browser which will let you navigate wherever you want to on the World Wide Web. For example, you will be able to go to the Thompson-Reuters news website and read the latest news, or you can go to the NYT website and read the latest editorials.

You will also be able to watch television shows, movies, and listen to your favorite music all on your new iPad, but you will have to purchase these things from the Apple Store, so you will not be able to use programs like Limewire or Ares to download files and then transfer them to your iPad. The Apple Store will have every type of media file that you are looking for, so there will be no need to worry. The iPad will come with various amounts of memory available, depending how much you are willing to pay. The cheapest offers 16 GB of memory while the most expensive offers 64 GB.

You will be able to download a movie or two before a long road trip and then you will be able to watch the movie on your iPad as your travel down the highway. Coming soon you will also be able to access the broadband data network from AT&T so you will have internet access even when you are on the road. Just like the iPhone was to mobile phones, the iPad is bound to be a revolution in tablet computer systems.
