- 1). Schedule the date of the party. Choose a day that will allow you time to prepare, but will also give you time to clean up and relax the next day.
- 2). Write up your guest list and invite everyone at least two weeks in advance. Giving your guests plenty of notice, whether in person, over the phone, or by email, will give them time to plan and to RSVP. Ask your guests to bring small "prizes" for your auction.
- 3). Stock up on party supplies. For a casino party, this means folding tables, chairs, cards, dice, poker chips (for play money) and other game materials as well as the usual plates, cups, napkins and refreshments. Serve foods that are simple to prepare and safe enough that everyone will enjoy.
- 4). Put trashcans in a few accessible areas and move anything breakable to a safe place. Remember to put out fresh hand towels, hand soap and tissues in the bathroom. Lay out the food in the kitchen or dining area so that people can nibble freely. This creates a nice break area away from the games.
- 5). Decorate and set up your tables. You want each game to have its own area, so once you've set up the tables, decorate with garlands of playing cards or big novelty dice. Don't worry about going overboard, because that's what a casino party is about.
- 6). Greet your guests at the door with a handful of poker chips and a smile. Have them draw a card from a shuffled deck as they come in, letting the lowest (or highest) cards indicate who starts off playing "dealer" for the night. Make sure to keep rotating who serves as the dealer, so that everybody gets a turn to play. If someone is unfamiliar with a game, recruit another person who is to assist.
- 7). Auction off the prizes at the end of the night. Your guests will enjoy being able to spend their winnings and anyone who goes bust during the night can get a chance to play auctioneer.
