- 1). Preserve the most colorful, blemish-free blooms. Do not select blooms that are past their prime; they will not dry well. Pick the flowers in the mid-morning on a dry day.
- 2). Remove all the leaves from the stem.
- 3). Gather no more than three to four roses in a bundle. Avoid having the blooms touch each other, if possible. Fasten each bunch with a rubber band.
- 4). Hang each bunch in a dry, warm place upside down from the ceiling or a rafter. If the area receives light, place a paper bag over each bundle prior to hanging them.
- 5). Allow them to dry for five to 10 days. When completely dried, they should be brittle to the touch.
- 6). Take the bundles down and carefully separate the blooms. Spritz each bloom with just a touch of hair spray. Try to lightly coat the entire bloom.
