What is a Dormer?



Definition: A dormer is a structure -- often a gabled extension -- built out from a sloping roof to accommodate a vertical window. A dormer has a small roof and frequently has a small gable over the vertical window. Dormers are a feature of Cottage or Picturesque architecture.
