How to Dye Your Own Hair

Most women are wary to color their own hair because they've heard all of the urban legends that come attached.
Everyone seems to have a "friend of a friend" who accidentally dyed her hair black, or accidentally bleached out a section, or accidentally went bald from mixing the formula incorrectly.
However, self-dying is just as safe and foolproof as the professional route, especially if you have a few tips to help you along the way.
Picking out the right color for you can be the most difficult choice.
Employ the help of an honest friend to come with you for the pick-out process.
Work off of the base color you want to find the perfect shade for you.
For blondes, try to avoid anything too ashy, as the dyed color can be hit-or-miss.
For redheads, steer clear of anything too bronzy or deep, and aim for more earthy, auburn tones.
Brunettes should decide if they want to go lighter or deeper, and choose a tone that will complement their skin.
Jet black is often the way to go for those wishing to try dark hair on for size, but make sure to find a high-gloss color, rather than something a bit more matte.
Allow an hour and a half for the hair-dying process, and set up shop in front of a full mirror and wipe-down surface.
Mix the dye as instructed, don the plastic gloves, and work from the hairline back.
Draw a straight line across the hairline and smooth the mixture backward, making sure to soak each strand.
Working in sections, pull hair up by the root, and coat with the dye until the whole head is finished.
Discard leftover dye, let your hair sit, and wipe off any mixture from your face with a paper towel.
Rinse, ooh, ahh, and enjoy.
