- 1). Reach underneath the shaper. Turn the large chrome wheel clockwise to raise the knife or "bit" up above the shaper table.
- 2). Unplug the shaper. Remove any dust covers. Slide the fence back away from the knife.
- 3). Place the special spindle wrench on top of the spindle. It should have a slot that the wrench will fit into.
- 4). Place a 1-inch hex wrench on the spindle locking nut that is directly above the knife.
- 5). Loosen the spindle locking nut while turning the wrenches against themselves. When it comes loose, take off both wrenches and remove the nut with your fingers.
- 6). Pull off the locking nut. Pull off two spacers. Pull off the knife.
- 7). Drop the new knife or "bit" into place onto the spindle. Drop the spacers on, the locking washer and screw the spindle nut back on with your fingers until finger tight.
- 8). Put the hex wrench back on the spindle nut. Put the special spindle locking wrench on top of the spindle into the slot. Using the wrenches against themselves, tighten the spindle locking nut securely.
- 9). Slide the fence back into place. Put the dust cover back on. Turn the power back on.
