How Does One Detect Infection?

It is easy to be infected with sexually transmitted diseases.
Just be careless and you can get infected that easy.
Well, anybody who has sexual activities is at risk from becoming infected with it.
But moreover, those who are sexually active are at higher risk from infection.
Other risk factors are when one has multiple sex partners, frequent change of sex partners and practicing unprotected sex.
A person may get infected with either curable or incurable types of STDs.
Most curable STDs are caused by bacteria and are recurrent.
Examples of curable STDs are Chlamydia, syphilis, gonorrhea and trichomoniasis.
These may be treated with antibiotics to completely eliminate the presence of the bacteria in the patient's system.
The time of treatment ay depend on how intense the disease is.
If the disease is already in its advanced stage, the treatment may take longer until the infection is completely gone out.
On the other hand, incurable diseases are mostly caused by virus.
These are sometimes treatable but as of now, no total cure has been available to eliminate the virus from the patient's body.
Some of the incurable diseases are herpes, hepatitis, HIV and AIDS.
There are medications available now to make the life of an HIV or AIDS positive patient be better.
The medications may control the spread of the virus to the other body organs of the patient.
This will make them feel better and live longer too.
If the disease shows symptoms or signs of infection, they may be easy to detect.
They will also be earlier to be treated.
This way, the patient may prevent going through the health complications that the disease may give.
The first few symptoms and signs may barely be noticed.
These include sores or bumps usually appearing in the genital area, painful urination, discharge from the penis or vagina, unusual vaginal bleeding, swollen lymph nodes usually located in the groin, fever, fatigue, colds, rashes or skin irritation.
Advanced cases of STD may show symptoms like sores or bumps appearing anywhere in the body, recurrent genital sores, pain during sexual intercourse, scrotal pain, pelvic pain, groin abscess, infertility and cancer.
STD infection may only be detected or confirmed through an STD test.
A sexually active person may need to be tested regularly.
Usually, most STDs will be tested every year or during the start of pregnancy.
Today, STD testing is being offered in many hospitals and local health centers to make it more available to many.
Local STD testing is now readily available at all times in most health sites.
There are also some STD testing clinics that offer specializations on treating STD and its symptoms.
They also offer screening, counseling and treatment.
Once a disease is detected, the patient will undergo treatment and prevent him or her from passing the disease to other people by teaching him or her preventive measures.
During treatment, the patient will have constant consultation and may have to be at open communication with the doctor.
And even if the patient has completed the treatment, he or she will have to have regular testing to monitor his or her health condition.
