- 1). Turn off the circuit breaker for the pool equipment to ensure it does not come on while you are cleaning the filter.
- 2). Open the pressure valve on the filter to release the pressure inside the system.
- 3). Remove the plug covering the drain from the bottom of the filter. Allow all of the water to drain.
- 4). Open up the housing covering the filter and remove the diatomaceous earth grids.
- 5). Spray the grids using a garden hose set on high. Continue to spray from the top to the bottom until all of the diatomaceous earth, dirt, and algae are released and the water runs clear.
- 6). Spray the exterior of the filter housing and the interior O-ring. Place the diatomaceous grids back into the filter and close the filter housing.
