If you are looking for a way to stop a cat from urinating in the house then I think I can help you.
I really feel for you because I had cats that urinated everywhere and it was so annoying to come home to that horrible smell and sometimes a stain.
Here are some of my top tips to get you over that problem and learn how to stop a cat from urinating in the house.
Rewards All Week - For the first week you must reward the cat every single time that it urinates in the right place.
This is easier if you have a litter tray for the cat, but outside is good also.
If you see the cat urinating or can tell that it is in the right place then call them over to near the area, stroke them and give them a treat.
Simple, right? You are just associating good things with urinating in the litter box.
Smell Repel - If your cat urinates in the same spot repeatedly then it is probably getting pretty comfortable there.
As we all know animals and cats especially have pretty sensitive noses.
They will hate a change in their environment.
Try putting some white vinegar in small doses in that area and the cat will move on because it feels uncomfortable there.
It sounds surprising but it works.
Train Them - How to train a cat goes well beyond the depth of this article but here is a decent idea.
If you have a garden of any size that you want the cat to urinate in, after the cat has eaten, make it go outside.
Or you could lock it in the room with the litter tray for an hour so it gets comfortable with it and gets used to using it.
