- 1). Launch Microsoft Word to create a new document.
- 2). Select the "Page Layout" tab and "Page Borders" from the Page Background panel. The Borders and Shading dialog box appears.
- 3). Change "Setting" from "None" to "Box." To use a simple border, select a line style from the "Style" list. To change the color of the border, pick a color from the "Color" drop-down list. To change its size, select a size from the "Width" drop-down list. To use artwork for the border, pick from the "Art" drop-down list. Set "Apply to" to "Full document" and click "OK."
- 4). Go to Section 4 to complete the flier.
- 1). Start WordPerfect to open a new page.
- 2). Select "Format," "Page" and "Border/Fill" from the menu. The Page Border/Fill dialog box opens to the "Border" tab.
- 3). Pick "Line" or "Fancy" for the border type and go to the Available Border Styles section to select a border style. The "Line" border type gives you additional options, "Color" and "Border line." Click the options you'd like to apply and press "OK."
- 4). Go to Section 4 to complete the flier.
- 1). Launch OpenOffice Writer. A new document displays on your page.
- 2). Select "Format" and "Page" from the menu. The Page Style dialog box opens.
- 3). Click the "Borders" tab to select a border for the flier. Go to the "Line arrangement" section and select "Set all four borders" under "Default." Go to the "Line" section and select a style from the list. To change the color of the line, click the "Color" drop-down list and select the color you'd like to apply. Click "OK."
- 4). Go to Section 4 to complete the flier.
- 1). Type in the event name or title at the top of your page and press "Enter." Type the date, time, location and information about the event on separate lines.
- 2). Highlight any text you want to format and press "Ctrl" and "E" to center it.
- 3). Enlarge the title and any information to which you want to draw attention. To format the text in Word, go to the small pop-up that appears over your text and select the "Font," "Font style," "Size" and "Font Color" you want to apply. To format it in WordPerfect, right-click and select "Font" from the pop-up menu. The Font Properties dialog box opens. Select a "Face" (font), "Size," "Appearance" (style) and "Color" for the highlighted text. To format it in OpenOffice Writer, right-click and select "Character" from the pop-up menu. Select the "Font" tab in the Character dialog box. Select a "Font," "Typeface" (style) and "Size." Go to the "Font Effects" tab and select a color from the "Font color" drop-down list. Click "OK."
- 4). Click the "Save" button when you are done. Name the file in the "File name" text field in the dialog box and click "Save."
