- 1). Dial the customer-service number on the back of your calling card. In some cases this may be the same number you dial to make phone calls. For example, when using an MCI prepaid calling card, you would dial the same 800-number to make a call or add minutes.
- 2). Enter the PIN number located on the back of the card. This allows the company's computers to identify the specific calling card that you're using.
- 3). Listen to the pre-recorded voice menu, and follow the prompt for adding minutes. The process can vary from company to company, but you will usually be asked to press a number; for example, to recharge an MCI prepaid calling card, you would press "2." If you don't hear this given as an option, follow the prompts for speaking with a customer service representative. Sometimes pressing "0" will do the trick.
- 4). Follow the prompts given by the computer menu--or the customer service representative, if you were unable to navigate the menu--to add more minutes to your card. You will usually be asked to select a dollar amount to add and will need to provide a debit or credit card number as a method of payment. In most cases, entering your payment information will complete the transaction, and additional minutes will be available on your card immediately.
