- 1). Turn the knob on the side of the Toro lawn edger's handle counterclockwise to loosen it. Move the handle up or down to adjust it for your height. Pivot the handle until it feels comfortable. Turn the handle clockwise to tighten it.
- 2). Plug the Toro lawn edger's polarized plug into a polarized extension cord. Plug the extension cord into an outdoor electrical outlet.
- 3). Squeeze the trigger to start it. Release the trigger anytime you want to stop the edger.
- 4). Tap the spool on the ground once while the edger is running if you need to increase the cutting line's length. If you need additional line, tap it a second time after waiting a few seconds.
- 5). Turn the edger over to switch from the trimming to edging position so that cutting line cover is now facing upward.
- 6). Move the edger side to side along the area you choose to edge to trim grass and weeds.
