- 1). Locate the carburetor. It's usually near the fuel tank.
- 2). Locate the carburetor's high, low and idle speed screws. These are usually marked with an "H," "L" and "LA," respectively.
- 3). Tighten the screws by turning them clockwise using a Phillip's head screwdriver until they're completely tight.
- 4). Turn the screws counter-clockwise one and a half turns and start the engine. The engine will run rough. Press the throttle handle to keep the engine from shutting down.
- 5). Turn the "L" screw slowly until the engine starts to run smoothly without dying out.
- 6). Press the throttle and hold it. Adjust the "H" screw clockwise until the engine runs with the throttle open, but not shut down.
