Once you plug in, the operating system automatically searches and detects the new device.
If you have a driver disk along with it, insert it when the operating system asks for.
If the device was installed prior, the system starts communicating with it.
USB devices come with their own in-built cable and have an "A" connection on it.
If there is no built-in cable, the device accepts a USB "B" connector.
"A" connectors head upstream, while "B" connectors head downstream and link to devices.
To avoid confusion the USB standard uses "A" and "B" connectors.
