How to Make an Instant Weave

    Threading on a Net Cap

    • 1). Secure mannequin head or wig base to a sturdy counter or mannequin stand. Place your net or mesh cap so it fits tightly around the wig base, and does not roll or slide back when you pinch the net.

    • 2). Unravel the wefted hair extension and hold the weft tightly against the rear of the cap where the first weft will be sewn. Position the weft just above the rim of the cap.

    • 3). Trim the length of weft and dab nail glue onto the ends of the weft to prevent shedding.

    • 4). Using a C-shaped weaving needle and nylon weaving thread, stitch the weft horizontally across the rear of the cap by anchoring each stitch around a thread of the pattern in the cap. Reinforce each end of the weft by looping the thread into a knot. Trim excess thread.

    • 5). Repeat the measurement, trimming and stitching pattern for each piece of weft added to the net cap. Place wefts 1/2 inch apart.

    • 6). Try on your instant weave before shaping the style. Your instant weave may not need to be styled very much. If your instant weave requires a trim or shaping, place it back on the wig base and style as desired.

    Bonding to a Mesh Cap

    • 1). Secure mannequin head or wig base to a sturdy counter or mannequin stand. Place your mesh cap so that it fits tightly around the wig base and does not roll or slide back when you pinch the mesh.

    • 2). Unravel the wefted hair extension and hold the weft tightly against the rear of the cap where the first weft will be glued. Position the weft just above the rim of the cap.

    • 3). Trim the length of weft and dab nail glue onto the ends of the weft to prevent shedding.

    • 4). Lay the piece of weft inside up on a flat surface. Apply a thin layer of weaving glue to the inside seam, which is visible as a tiny fringe on one side of the weft.

    • 5). Apply the glued side of the weft to the mesh cap, pressing firmly. Blast with a hair dryer set to high. Tap the weft with your finger as the glue sets. The glue is set when it is no longer tacky.

    • 6). Repeat application of each weft every 1/2 inch throughout the cap, allowing the glue to dry on each strip.

    • 7). Try on your instant weave and style and trim as desired.
