Partition Loss When You Formatted Unallocated Hard Drive Space

When you attempt to increase or decrease the size of your primary or secondary Windows hard drive partitions, you may find some unformatted space on the drive. This space can not be used, until you format it. if you format this space and reboot the system, the system fails to start normally. When you boot the system in safe mode, you may find that your hard drive partitions are missing and only the formatted space is shown. This behavior of Microsoft Windows cause critical situations of partition loss and requires Partition Recovery to be fixed.

When you get into ‘Disk Management’ of your Windows computer and delete the newly created partition and merge the space to previously created partitions, the process completes successfully. But after this, when you attempt to access the partition, you encounter the following error message:

"The disk in drive <drive name> is not formatted. Do you want to format it now?"

When you go to ‘My Computer’, you can see all the hard drive partitions, but you can not access them. When you see the partition properties, it shows that the partition space is 100% free and it is a RAW partition.

In such situations, to retrieve your vital data and information stored on the lost or missing partitions, you are required to first find out the root of this problem and then opt for Partition Recovery by resolving it.

Partition header is a data structure which starts with the first sector of a partition and stores important information about the partition like label, size, starting and ending sector and so forth.

Resolution

To resolve this issue, you need to format the entire hard drive and reinstall the operating system. Formatting can fix most of the disk related issues, but also deletes all the partitions and data from hard drive.
