How to Get a GOLF Scholarship and PLAY in College - Part 5

This is part 5 of a series of How to articles that will help your junior golfer achieve their dream of playing golf in college and get a college scholarship.
I really like the Golfweek rankings because they are based on the same system the pro tours use.
You will need to check the tournaments that you want to play in to see if they are part of the Golfweek ranking system.
All of the major tours show you the ranking systems for each tournament in a box on the far right side of their schedule.
Each of the independent tournaments listed on our site are part of the Golfweek ranking system.
Golfweek includes metrics for difficulty of schedule (based on events played and average scores for those events), and a "Wins, Losses, Ties" factor that is measured in four groups: vs.
Top 25, vs.
Top 50, vs.
Top 100, and Overall.
A junior golfer must have 5 (recently lowered from 6 to make it easier for players to get ranked) Golfweek ranked events the last rolling 12 months schedule to be eligible.
JuniorGolf-Tour believes the Golfweek rankings are the most accurate comparison of junior golfers.
The Golfweek rankings are a great barometer for a junior golfer to measure where they stand compared to their peers.
The Golfweek rankings are a true comparison since they are based off of wins, losses and ties against the top 100 ranked junior golfers.
Golfweek is very specific on the requirements for an event to be ranked, and, they take very special care to ensure that the results and course ratings are accurate.
It is a badge of honor for a tournament to be part of the Golfweek ranking schedule.
In order for junior tournaments to be included in the Golfweek/Titleist Junior rankings database the following conditions are recommended: In order to be ranked, a boy's field must have minimum of 40 boys start the event and a girl's field must have 12 girls start the event.
The event should be considered a regional tournament if not a national tournament.
54-hole events are desired.
However, 36-hole events will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
If an event is reduced due to inclement weather, it will still count in the database provided that the entire field completes 18 holes.
The rankings will only count the oldest age division unless all players' play from the same tees and the fields can be combined to create one event.
A policy designed to prohibit withdrawal due to poor play must be disclosed, implemented, and enforced.
Golfweek reserves the right to add and drop tournaments at any time.
Keep working on your game and go make some birdies!
