Summer Solutions Swimmer"s Skin, Body, and Swimsuit Products (Review)

Summer Solutions makes 6 products to help clean and protect swimmers' hair, body, and swim suits. One Step Shampoo and Conditioner, Sand and Surf Swimwear Cleaner, Soap+, Moisture Therapy, Suit Solutions Chlorine Neutralizer, and Swimmer's Own Shower Gel. We put their products through to the test and we liked the results.

Summer Solutions Swimmers Skin, Body, and Swimsuit Products

  • One Step - Shampoo/Conditioner in one that removes chlorine/metals from swimmers hair

The One Step shampoo and conditioner in one did a nice job of cleaning hair, getting rid of the chlorine smell, and left hair manageable and easy to comb, brush, dry, and style. It comes in an 8oz bottle.

From a tester: One Step did not create much bubbles, but it cleans hair well. It is easy to rinse out. Although it says it is a conditioner, too, you might want to use a separate conditioner if you have very long hair. My hair is short, but I felt it did work OK.

  • Sand & Surf - Swim wear cleaning solution designed to remove irritants, salt, and harmful oils from swimsuits.

Sand & Surf is aimed at swim wear worn at a beach. Lakes and oceans so not have the same chemicals as thsoe found in a swimming pool, so this product has s different formula to address the needs of the the fresh or salt water swimmer (it does work for pool swimmers, too, neutralizing chlorine). It comes in an 8oz bottle.

From a tester: I mixed it as directed, washed and then rinsed my swim suit, and my suit was clean and smelled fresh. I have tried it after both an ocean swim and a pool swim, and the Sand & Surf worked well both times.
  • Soap+ - Natural Bar Soap that removes chlorine from swimmers' skin

Soap+ is 100% natural soap with a vegetable and soy milk base. Besides cleaning a swimmer's skin, it neutralizes the chlorine left on a swimer's skin after a pool swim, so the swimemr can leave that chlorine smell at the pool! The bar is about 3" x 2" x 1" and lasted several weeks - your mileage may vary.

From a tester: The soap felt pretty much like regular soap. It cleaned me up after a swim, got rid of the chlorine smell, and did not leave any sticky feeling film on my body. I also used ti after some other, non-swim workouts, and it worked as well as any other soap. I liked that it did not have a strong odor and left me feeling clean, not perfumed.

  • Moisture Therapy - Body lotion with a super thin feeling, works to moisturize the the skin. Does not remove chlorine

This skin moisturizer has a light feel to it, and a light scent of coconuts and limes. It contains aloe vera. It comes in an 8oz tube.

From a tester: Moisture Therapy was not sticky or oily. It gave the "right" amount of moisture for my skin after a swim. A little amount can be spread over a lot of skin - a little goes a long way. It does not have strong smell. I think both men and women would enjoy it and benefit from using it.
  • Suit Solutions - Gentle swim wear rinse that removes chlorine from swim wear

Suit Solutions is a swim wear protector. It neutralizes chlorine to stop damage to the swim suit. It comes in an 8oz bottle.

From a tester: After mixing the Suit Solutions and water in a sink according to the directions, swishing my suit in it, and letting in drip dry, there was still a smell of chlorine on my swimsuit. I tried it a second time and it worked well. I may not have swished my swim suit in the water and Suit Solutions mix long enough the first time, but I thought I did. It was easy to use, as you do not have to rinse it out, just mix the solution with water in a sink, wash your swim wear with the liquid, let your swimsuit dry normally. I have no idea if it extends the life of the swim suit as I have not used it long enough yet!
  • Swimmer's Own - Shower gel for swimmers that removes chlorine from swimmers skin

Swimmer's Own gel contains vitamin E and aloe vera. It is designed to both clean and remove chlorine from a swimmer's skin. It comes in an 8oz bottle.

From a tester: The very first impression of the product was "refreshing. It smells and fells somehow refreshing. A small amount of it gives you a lot of bubbles. Swimmers Own was not sticky or clingy, thus it was easy to rinse off after washing. It is perfect for after a morning practice to get ready for work quickly. No chlorine smell left on me after a shower.
